This live camera, run by PC1 Limited in support of the RNLI, points across Porthcawl Pier and its harbour on the south Wales coast, giving a view of the Bristol Channel beyond. It is a live feed, so you can watch the tide fill the marina, boats heading out on a calm day, and the pier taking the first blows when a south-westerly gale pushes surf against the seaward side. The most useful times are just before high water, when the harbour is busiest with returning fishing boats, and during big Atlantic storms, when the camera shows the reason the lifeboat station exists. If you are planning a coast path walk or checking whether the sea is too rough to be near the pier, a quick look tells you what to expect.
