The camera points at the night sky above Mount Katahdin, the northern terminus of the Appalachian Trail in Maine. It is operated by Boston and Maine Live as part of their weather and sky monitoring. The feed is a live video, best opened after dark when the sky is clear. It catches stars drifting, the occasional meteor streak, and, during strong geomagnetic storms, the northern lights dancing low on the horizon. Because Katahdin is far from city lights, the Milky Way shows up well. Check it on clear nights, especially between November and April when aurora activity peaks, or around meteor showers in August and December.
