This camera looks out from Cuxhaven-Duhnen across the beach toward the Wadden Sea, the tidal flats inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage site. The view takes in the sand, the water's edge and the open horizon where the Elbe meets the North Sea. The operator is Reinhard Nabor. The picture refreshes regularly, enough to follow the tide moving across the flats and to see what the weather is doing on this stretch of the German North Sea coast. The tide is the reason to check it: at low water the flats stretch far out, at high water the beach narrows and the shipping lanes off Cuxhaven come into view. Morning light and the hour around sunset are when the view is clearest. It is a useful check before a walk on the beach or a trip to the mudflats.
